At GIG-A, we are committed to providing our customers with the highest level of security for their accounts. Enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) using a one time password (OTP) sent via text message is an essential part of this commitment, as it adds an extra layer of protection to your account and helps prevent unauthorised access and potential fraud.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an essential security measure for banking services that helps to protect your money from unauthorised access and potential fraud. With 2FA, users are required to provide two forms of authentication, typically a password or PIN and a unique, one-time code that is sent to their mobile phone, email or another device.

The main reason why 2FA is necessary to use in banking services is that it provides an additional layer of security to your account. In the past, passwords were the primary method of authentication, but as cyber threats continue to evolve, passwords alone are no longer enough to keep your account secure.

By adding an extra layer of authentication with 2FA, even if someone obtains your password or PIN, they would still be unable to access your account without also having the one-time code. This makes it much more difficult for hackers or cybercriminals to gain access to your account, helping to protect your personal and financial information, as well as your money.

How does 2-factor authentication using a code sent via text message work?

When you enable 2-factor authentication using an authentication code sent via text message, you will be prompted to enter your mobile phone number. Once you have entered and verified your phone number, you will receive the code via text message each time you log in to your GIG-A account. You will need to enter this code in addition to your regular login credentials, such as your username and password, to access your account.

What happens if I'm not receiving the code via text message?

If you are not receiving the code via text message, there could be several reasons for this. Please check to ensure that your mobile phone number is correct and up-to-date in your account settings. Additionally, your mobile phone carrier may be experiencing technical issues that are preventing the delivery of the OTP. If you continue to experience issues, please contact our customer support team for assistance.
